Life of Charlie Horse: From Foal to Social Media Star
Hi, I'm Charlie, aka Charlie Horse. Other than putting an artist on the payroll, I pretty much run this entire thing. When it comes to horse racing, I'm truly connected to the sport of kings! I know many of these horses personally. Unfortunately, I'm even related to a few of them. Lol. From a foal goofing and horsing around in the barn to my early years learning my trade. Then on to a brilliant professional career and finally track commentary and now social media with my own Instagram page. I pretty much have done it all. I can also tell you some juicy, behind-the-scenes stories about the real life of a thoroughbred.
Meet Lightbulb: The Little Equine Einstein
Say hello to Lightbulb. He's very bright and happens to be Charlie's little nephew.
A foal who spends much of his time reading racing stats, collecting trading cards and autographed pictures of his track heroes. He thinks learning is fun and school is cool. He also loves munching on some of his favorite treats, carrot chips, barley cookies and apple snacks. One of his favorite things is his toy racing hood his mom knitted for him. He wears it all the time! He thinks the world of his uncle Charlie and wants to be just like him. He's our little Equine Einstein and we're very proud of him.

From Marine Corps Inspiration to Equestrian Artist
Tom’s love for horses began at a young age, inspired by stories from his father, who trained horses and mules while serving in the United States Marine Corps. This early passion grew stronger when Tom moved to California and settled near the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, where he spent countless hours riding in the Hollywood Hills. His fascination with these remarkable animals became a cornerstone of his personal and creative pursuits.
Alongside his love for horses, Tom pursued a diverse education and career path. He graduated from The Pacific Institute in Los Angeles, California, and later from The Somerset County Computer Graphics School of Design in New Jersey. His professional journey spans a wide array of projects for various clients, including those in tourism, the film industry, digital and print firms, and even highway application companies. A highlight of his career was the opportunity to teach art at levels ranging from beginner to college, sharing his skills and passion with others.
Tom’s body of work is broad, covering everything from graphics to fine arts. One of his most celebrated projects is his thoroughbred horse racing line, which was so well received that his company, Artstar Studios, was invited to sponsor the Preakness Celebration at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Today, his imagery continues to reach audiences around the world, with his designs available on apparel and accessories through this website, Artstarstudios.com.
